Doug Mahard - Piano Technician

Doug became a piano technician in 1991, at the suggestion of his piano teacher, whose tuner was looking for an apprentice.  He's been an active member of the Piano Technicians Guild  since 1995 and has served as treasurer and currently serves as chair of the projects committee for the Connecticut chapter.

"The guild is not only a source of excellent information on the craft of piano tuning and repair, it has provided me lifelong friendships of like-minded professionals willing to share their knowledge and help each other out whenever possible.  I consider some of my fellow CT chapter members my best friends."

Doug is the inventor of the Action Lock Bench, the first industry-standard action regulation bench He produced the benches for eight years, until he could no longer secure quality supplies.  If you are fortunate enough to own one, hang on to it: it may be a collector's item one day.

Doug is also a guitarist and singer-songwriter.  He serves his community as a board member of the Bethlehem Land Trust and the Woodbury-Bethlehem Music Foundation (WBCMF). He and fellow songwriter Mitch Katz run the New Morning Singer-Songwriter Series on the fourth Saturday of the month (September through May).

Nancy McMillan - Office Manager

Nancy is a piano teacher, certified Musikgarten teacher, and author.  Through her teaching studio, Whistling Hawk Studio she teaches all ages, from toddlers to retired adults, and loves spreading the joy of music making.

She left a career at IBM to pursue a creative life.  Her business skills from her previous life are what convinced Doug to hire her as his office manager.

She serves on the WBCMF along with Doug, and is co-chair of the Bethlehem Open Space Committee.

Charlie - Mascot

Charlie has been an English Springer Spaniel since 2006.  He takes his career as a mascot seriously, ensuring we don't spend too much time tied to our desks.  He won our hearts upon first encounter, and continues to keep our spirits up.
