Doug Mahard - Piano Technician
Doug became a piano technician in 1991, at the suggestion of his piano teacher, whose tuner was looking for an apprentice. He's been an active member of the Piano Technicians Guild since 1995.
"The guild is not only a source of excellent information on the craft of piano tuning and repair, it has provided me lifelong friendships of like-minded professionals willing to share their knowledge and help each other out whenever possible. I consider some of my fellow CT chapter members my best friends."
Doug is the inventor of the Action Lock Bench, the first industry-standard action regulation bench He produced the benches for eight years, until he could no longer secure quality supplies. If you are fortunate enough to own one, hang on to it: it may be a collector's item one day.
Doug is also a guitarist and singer-songwriter. He is a current board member and volunteer of Caring for Bethlehem. He has previously served his community as a board member of the Bethlehem Land Trust and the Woodbury-Bethlehem Music Foundation (WBCMF). For seven years, he and fellow songwriter Mitch Katz ran the New Morning Singer-Songwriter Series.
